About this seed
Himalayan Apple Mix seeds are offered as a mixed seed lot for growers interested in raising apple trees from seed. The lot is identified as Malus domestica and comes from Himalayan apple stock. Package options contain 10 seeds or 20 seeds.
Also known as: Seb, Manzana, Pomme, Apfel, Mela, Maçã, Yabloko, Elma, Malus pumila and Pyrus malus.
Please note that apples grown from seed are genetically variable. Seedlings may differ from the parent trees in fruit size, color, flavor, growth habit, and time to maturity.
For germination, apple seeds are commonly given a period of moist cold stratification before sowing. Keep the medium damp rather than waterlogged and check regularly for mold or early germination. After stratification, sow in a free-draining seed-starting mix and provide steady moisture, light, and ventilation. Germination speed and percentage can vary with seed condition and growing environment.
Young seedlings can be potted on as they develop. Choose a suitable long-term position only after considering local climate, available space, soil drainage, and the mature size of an apple tree. Seed-grown trees are a long-term growing project and may take several years to mature.
Store unused seeds cool and dry.
